How to remove the background from an image

  1. 1

    Add your photos

Drop in JPG, PNG, or WebP images, a single product shot or up to 20 at once. People, pets, products, and objects all work.

  2. 2

Let the AI find the subject

A segmentation model runs in your browser and draws a soft-edged mask around the subject. The first run downloads the model once; after that it starts straight away.

  3. 3

    Download the cut-out

Save a transparent PNG or WebP, or a JPG on white or black. Download images one by one or all as a ZIP.

Features

Private by design

The model runs on your device. Photos of people, documents, or unreleased products never touch a server.

Clean, soft edges

The mask keeps fine detail such as hair, fur, and petals, and blends edges instead of cutting a hard outline.

GPU accelerated

On browsers with WebGPU, an image takes a few seconds. Without it, the model falls back to your processor and still works.

Free, no watermark

Full-resolution output with no credits, no account, and no logo stamped on your image.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The AI model is downloaded to your browser and the photo is processed on your own device. The image itself never leaves it.

Why does the first run take longer?

The first time, your browser downloads the background-removal model and runtime, about 60–75 MB in total. They are cached, so later runs start almost immediately.

How long does it take per image?

With WebGPU (recent Chrome, Edge, or Safari on most computers), usually a few seconds. Without a GPU, the model runs on your processor and can take up to half a minute per image.

Which format should I choose?

PNG keeps transparency losslessly and works everywhere. WebP is also transparent but much smaller, which suits websites. JPG has no transparency, so the background becomes white or black.

Does the output keep my original resolution?

Yes. The cut-out is the same size as your photo, up to 36 megapixels; larger images are scaled down to fit that limit.

What works best?

A clear subject that stands out from its surroundings: a person, an animal, a product, or an object. Busy scenes with many overlapping items may need a cleaner shot.
