How to add metadata to an image
- 1
Add your images
Drop in JPG, PNG, or WebP files. Existing camera metadata is preserved — this tool only adds to it.
- 2
Fill in the fields
Type what should travel with the file: title, creator, copyright, date, software. A field you leave empty is skipped.
- 3
Download the tagged files
Each image is rewritten with the new metadata, and you get a report of everything the file now carries.
Features
Real metadata, not a comment
Values are written as standard XMP for JPG and WebP, and as iTXt text chunks for PNG — read by Photoshop, Lightroom, and your operating system.
Camera data preserved
Adding a copyright line does not wipe the camera’s own EXIF. The new block is written alongside it.
Every language fits
Fields are written as UTF-8, so accents, Japanese, Arabic, and emoji all survive intact.
Nothing uploaded
Files are edited in your browser and never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
Which fields can I add?
Title (description), creator or artist, copyright notice, creation date, and software. Fields you leave empty are not written.
Will this overwrite the camera metadata?
No. Existing EXIF stays where it is; the new values are written as a separate XMP block for JPG and WebP, or as text chunks for PNG.
Where will the metadata show up?
Photo editors and operating systems read these fields: macOS Finder, Windows Explorer, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge all show title, author, and copyright.
Can I tag several images at once?
Yes — up to 50 files share the same fields in one run. Download each tagged file, or all of them in a single ZIP.
Can I remove the metadata again later?
Yes. Use the Remove Image Metadata tool to strip everything back out, losslessly.
