Privacy & Terms
The short version: your files never leave your device, we have no accounts, and we collect nothing that identifies you. Last updated September 2026.
Your files
Every conversion on FreeConvert happens locally, inside your browser, on your own hardware. When you add a file, your browser reads it from your disk into memory, converts it, and offers the result back as a download. The file is never transmitted to us or to anyone else — there is no upload step at all. When you close or reload the page, the file is gone from memory.
Data we collect
None. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, no analytics, no advertising cookies, and no tracking pixels. We do not receive, store, or see any file you convert, and we have no server that could.
Third-party code
Video and audio conversion uses FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly, which is downloaded once from a public content-delivery network, verified against a pinned checksum, and cached by your browser. It runs entirely on your device and sends nothing anywhere.
Terms of use
FreeConvert is provided free of charge, as-is, without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for the files you convert and for owning the rights to them. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages or data loss arising from use of the service.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
